The Last Of The Many
All good things come to an end…and so, I welcome you to my very last official fashion post. Disappointing, I know…But as much as I love fashion blogging, I have many other amazing opportunities I need to pursue. As you all know time is scarce, I had to make the very difficult decision of quitting my favorite paid hobby.
Apart from just not having enough hours in a day, there are a lot of factors that weighed heavily in this decision. One of it being that I spent at least one full working day on each post (8-10 hours), from selecting out an outfit, to running out to the most beautiful locations with my photographer, shooting, selecting the best out of the hundreds of pictures, editing pictures and then the writing, adding all the affiliate links, looking for similar looks for you to check out, etc etc.
People simply don’t realise the crazy amount of time and effort that goes into each post. I know the above can be done much simpler, but I never commit to doing anything without giving it a 110% (I mean, what’s the point otherwise?). Also, if I would take shortcuts, I would be just one of the many average/amateur fashion bloggers who seem to call themselves that so quickly. Today everybody is a fashionblogger. It’s become a very saturated market, where quality is rare, but (crazy enough!) also rarely appreciated.
I feel that apart from people not realising how much thought, energy and time goes into each post/picture, it’s also not being appreciated enough. Yes, I get paid, but not nearly enough, given the amount of effort put in. And then there is the increasing amount of companies thinking they can work with you only for free products, despite you working so hard to build your following and providing quality. Funny thing is I can’t blame them, as there are so many fashion bloggers doing everything for free.
I’m tired of putting in so many effort, when my effort is being downsized into a tiny square among billions of other squares, where people scroll through so fast, only giving your effort a glance of a few seconds. Whereas in the same time frame, I can earn an exponential amount more with my marketing skills. It’s resulted in the hobby becoming much less fun, as validation has become way too important to make it all worthwhile. I’m capable of so much more, and I intend to focus my energy into promoting more than just fashion and my looks. In retrospect, I honestly feel I’ve been selling myself short.
All this time I felt I needed beautiful pictures to capture people’s attention, hoping they will read about what I have to say. But nobody reads (believe me I’ve tested this multiple times!). So why bother anyway??
No worries to those who enjoyed my writing, as I will definitely keep on blogging, but about the stuff that matters. The stuff that makes you think. The stuff that makes you grow.
The fact stays that you can never take out the fashionista in me, so you will regularly find my #ootd’s come by on Instagram, but I won’t be fashion blogging and doing full fashion photo diary’s anymore. So to all my loyal fashion followers, I want to say thank you for your love and I hope you will be sticking around! <3
Love,
Nadira

Red Rose
A new hairstyle, a lot of flair and there’s something about the color red that just makes me feel sexy! With embroidery being THE new trend this season, this leather studded flower jacket stole my heart, despite me not being a fan of flower patterns. I walked past the WinkelMoment store and my eyes fell on the flair pants on one mannequin and the jacket on another mannequin and I instantly knew the two combined was going to make my next outfit! Hoping you love it as much as I do <3 . Full photo diary and outfit details below.
Quote of the day:
It’s ok to fall down and lose your spark. Just make sure that when you get back up, you rise as the whole damn fire!

Mother Of Dragons
I’m a Game Of Thrones fan, and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there…will all my Khaleesi fans please stand up?!
What I loved about the setting while shooting this outfit (for the most part), is that it could come straight out of a GOT episode as well. Amazing historical architecture preserved as if time stood still.
My “Mother Of Dragons” T-shirt is from Customized Wear (direct shopping link below). Skirt from H&M. Boots from Missguided. Stockings and Jacket from Bbarbarella by Trees.

Army For The Win
A sophisticated, yet sexy look, perfect for the transition from winter to spring. I loved shooting this with my photographer Fons de Keijzer who is introducing me to beautiful parts of the Netherlands I didn’t even know existed. In this particular place, some parts looked like we’re back in mid-century Netherlands, as if time stood still. Definitely coming back to shoot here again.
Hoping you enjoy my full photo diary and all direct shopping links below!

3 Times Savvy with Bbarbarella
Calling out all my Dutch fashionista’s! One of my favorite stores in Hilversum city, BBarbarella by Trees is having a huge sale, where everything has to go, so they have tops from €10,- to blazers for €50,-. I partnered with them and shot 3 different looks, with a basic jeans from NickJean, and a thin turtle neck in this sweet soft pink from Comma. Mixing it up with different blazers and a poncho from Comma, and some accessoires and you have 3 different looks. Bag is from Paul’s Boutique and everything you see from head to toe, you can get for almost nothing at BBarbarella by Trees, located at the Kerkstraat 63/39, Hilversum (Gooische Brink Passage). Which one is your favorite?
If you love sophisticated, classy – casual/work looks like this as much as I do, I wouldn’t wait too long, otherwise the best pieces will be sold out. Now stop reading and get your ass to Bbarbarella in Hilversum! Oh no wait! Check out my full photo diary with all 3 looks below first :-). And when you go to Hilversum, make sure to drop by Wulterkens Store (a few stores further in the Gooische Brink Passage) and come and say Hi to me :-).

Rusty Stripes
Once in a while I like to pull together an ”out of the box” outfit, mixing patterns and colours that aren’t your everyday combination, yet still come together quite nicely. One of my past ”out of the box” outfits you can find here.
The pictures were taken in the freezing cold and snow (-2 degrees), so I have to credit myself for managing to still look like it was above freezing temperatures. All other credits go to my new photographer Fons de Keijzer who came up with an awesome location. It wasn’t planned, but we got lucky and everything came together perfectly, as all the patterns in the environment mixed with the outfit.
I hope you enjoy my entire ”Rusty Stripes” gallery since it was made with a lot of love.

New Beginnings & Perfect Endings
That moment…when you just got off the rollercoaster ride…pumped with adrenaline, slightly nauseous, overwhelmed, kinda tired, but you are ready to go for another ride!
Most of you who follow me on my social media know that on December 1st, I opened my very first physical store: The Wulterkens Customized Wear Store in the Gooische Brink Passage, Hilversum!
Needless to say the past few months have been unbelievably hectic and crazy. We received the keys to the store on November 7th, and we had our grand opening on December 1st, so in 24 days, we built up the entire store. Let’s just say…the next time someone says they are ”busy”, because they have a few things going on, I’m willing to give them the ”batman meme” slap.
I’ve managed to get things done that I never thought I could. Tackling one challenge at a time, constant problem solving, a lot of sweat, some tears as well…In those 3 weeks, I’ve learned so much, I feel like a completely different person and it was all so worth it. I will get into some lessons learned (there have been a lot) in future posts.
2016 has taken a completely unexpected turn for us, amazing opportunities came onto our path, which we literally grabbed with both hands and along with the help of so many loving friends and beautiful souls around us, we couldn’t be more grateful. For an impression, you can find the after movie of the grand opening of the Wulterkens Store below.
We’ve also moved to a great apartment in Hilversum, so we’re settling into our new home. In retrospect, 2016, was an amazing year. We’ve taken our businesses Wulterkens and Customized Wear to a whole other level, bringing them together to the consumer in the Wulterkens Store. We’ve launched a new t-shirt brand King Of Rebels. I can finally call myself Nadira Ramautarsing, MSc. Marketing! Looking back to my first post this year, Raise Your Standards, I’ve accomplished most of my goals. I am fit, healthy, taking things to the next level, focussing, prioritising, back on track. Yes! Madame Selfmade has been put on hold for a little while, because while I am superwoman, there are some limits to my powers, such as the 24 hours I only have a day, but stay tuned! Mastering the moonwalk is something I will pick up in 2017 as well ;-).
There is this saying that ”every next level of life demands another version of you”. It took me a while to evolve (read more in The Unknown), but I look back in gratitude, and I am so excited for what 2017 will bring.
I wish you all beautiful holidays, with loving people and great food!
Take care and much LOVE,
Nadira
